ABOUT THE PROJECT

The AIDEA project (Artificial Intelligence for a New Design Education Approach) is an international initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA220-HED). It aims to modernise higher education in the field of design. Running for 33 months from December 2025 to August 2028, the project involves eight partner organisations from Italy, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Austria, North Macedonia and Ireland.

Purpose

AIDEA responds to the rapid transformation of the design field driven by generative AI. The project bridges traditional craft-based education with emerging technologies by promoting a balanced approach that integrates three key dimensions: the intelligence of the hand, artificial intelligence, and social intelligence. Together, these dimensions support creative, ethical, and future-oriented design practices, combining craftsmanship, digital innovation, and human-centred thinking.

Key Objectives

AIDEA aims to enhance the quality of design education in Europe and align it more closely with evolving market needs by integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning processes. Through this approach, AIDEA fosters critical thinking, ethical awareness, and innovation in design education.
